We often refer to our Society as one great Fraternity. This was recently demonstrated in a joint-performance by the Heart of the Hills and Guardians of Harmony Choruses at the Heartland Medical Center in Troy, Michigan.
The Heart of the Hills Chorus had booked a 45-minute program for the residents at this medical rehabilitation facility for Sunday afternoon, April 15th. When Guardians of Harmony’s president, Ed Bax, and director, Matt Tipton, heard about it, they volunteered to add their voices and asked other members of their chorus to join in. A friendship has developed between these two chapters, having collaborated on the annual Barbershop show last October and joining together again for the Pioneer District Contest.
By performance time, we had almost equal numbers of guys in Heart of the Hills red shirts and the Guardians of Harmony black shirts, resulting in a great performance. The attendees all expressed their appreciation and enjoyment of our program.
As an added bonus, the room they provided for our warm-up was, appropriately, their Barbershop. How could we not do a good job from there?
Does anyone know these guys, preparing for some serious Barbershopping? “Who has the two bits?”
