Television’s most profitable series, The Tonight Show is by far the most successful late-night network series. Johnny Carson hosted the show from October 1, 1962 to May 22, 1992 and became one of the most popular entertainers in show business history. His thirty year stewardship of the show was five times the combined tenure of Steve Allen and Jack Paar.
