Segments of an article written by Roger Payne (assistant director of the Big
Apple Chorus)- "The Big Apple Chorus remains forever grateful to the Westchester County Chordsmen, the SPEBSQSA chapter which served as our sponsoring chapter when the Big Apple Chorus formed in 1981. "Accordingly, it was a delight for a double-digits delegation of BACmen to attend a superb Westco show Saturday night, March 27. The show marked a return to the time-honored Westchester tradition of a "theme" or "book" show, complete with shamelessly fun tie-ins for songs (example: Teddy Roosevelt's African safari served as context for a fabulous Yoruban Christmas carol in five movements, complete with Alan Fennell on drums), and also with an original opener by composer/arranger in residence Steve Delehanty. "The chorus and a multitude of chapter quartets performed a tremendously entertaining variety of music ranging from Four Freshmen to doo-wop to traditional barbershop. In addition, guest quartet Matrix from Ohio held up their end of the bargain, singing whistle-clean chords for a solid half-hour across repertoire ranging from driving barbershop uptunes to a tender version of Billy Joel's 'Lullabye.' "The chorus sang with a freedom, vibrancy, and sense of dynamics that showed they will be a force to be reckoned with in the MidAtlantic District in the very near future, and more importantly, which simply wowed the audience into a unanimous and hearfelt standing ovation more than once during the show. "This Westco alumnus was proud to be there to see a grand tradition upheld and renewed. The Manhattan chapter congratulates Westco on a fabulous show and wishes Dusty and all new and old members the best as they continue their uplifting musical journey together" Connie Delehanty took a complete photo history of the show.
