contest, placing 5th in the 1958 competition.
In 1964 as 1st Vice President of International, he served as chairman of the service committee which investigated, recommended and gained approval for adopting the Institute of Logopedics as the International service project. This project, adopted in 1964, saw its first full year of operation in 1965 during Al's term of office.

DICK GIFFORD
is currently the only Fort Worth chapter member to wear a quartet gold metal earned in international competition in 1955 while singing bass with the "Four Hearsemen" from Amarillo. Dick was chosen the Fort Worth chapter 'Barbershopper Of The Year' for 1992. His tireless promotion of the true Barbershop style of harmony is a virtue that all members of the chapter feel and tiy to achieve.

GLENN C. HUTTON, Jr.
was named  1959 Southwestern District Barbershopper of the Year. One of the top new member recruiters in the whole society with over seventy (70) members credited to his "Man-of-Note" log. He was the driving force when the Fort Worth chapter reached and surpassed the 'Centurv Club' status in 1959/1960. Glenn remains a true quartet man and a staunch promoter and practitioner of the preservation of the old songs. His goal is to preserve the barbershop style for younger generations.

M.R. LONG
(deceased) was a devoted charter member from 1952 through the late seventies. During his membership he served as Secretary, Treasurer, and Bulletin Editor and did his usual fine job at each. Early in his membership M.R. was the chapter Historian.

SONNY LIPFORD
in the great many years of being the director (51/ 72), helped inspire many men in their more formative years to improve their singing and enjoyment of barbershop. His teaching and coaching helped the chapter make great strides musically.

M.J. OWENS
(deceased) was a charter member, president four times, and is credited with saving the life of the Fort Worth chapter. It was through the giving of his time, talent, business facilities and sometimes monies that made him such a important member.

LUCIUS A. POWELL
Luke, our current director, brings to the Fort Worth chapter many years of experience in directing, teaching, and singing barbershop. His talent is invaluable when it comes to teaching this style to enthusiastic members. He started as director in 1982 and from the very start members knew this was the fellow who could lead a chapter to great heights.
