has been blessed with gifted, dedicated directors-eleven
in all. Since 1988, BOB CALDERON has been our head arm-waver, ably assisted
by JOHN EBY, his predecessor as director. Though hindered by declining
membership (a Society-wide happening), Bob has worked successfully to make
the Border Chorder sound a great one.
For nearly half a century both the chorus and various chapter quartets
have brought to the El Paso area a high grade of musical entertainment.
Immediate Past President JIM CALLUS eloquently states our aims: "I want
the Border Chorders to become recognized in the local community as a class
act, combining pure entertainment with the preservation of a uniquely American
art form." Some of us think that's already the case-but there's always
room for improvement. We meet every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., at the University
Presbyterian Church, on Resler St. in the West Side. |
