Well, 37 years and 37 annual shows later its more fun than
ever. In 1991, we produced a Tribute to the Buffalo Bills, and had 29 gold
medalists on our stage - The audience loved it!!. In the 1993 District
chorus contest we did our now famous Handyman Medley where, as we walked
on, in 20 seconds we built a set of the inside of a house. Thirty five
seconds before our big finish, smoke from our "burning" refrigerator rose
straight up into a smoke detector which worked very well. It set off flashing
lights and a very loud alarm. Fire engines also came to the hotel. The
judges offered us the chance to do it again but we said "NO". We had already
won the audience. That fire alarm fit right in and some even thought we
planned it. We later took the act on the road to the Buckeye Invitational
in Columbus, Ohio where it was said "You guys need a bigger fire" Hot Stuff!
Currently we are growing with a new director, Brian Beck with the focus
on musical fun and quality. On January 1, 1995, the Town North and Plano
chapters combined to form the Town North Men Of Note Chorus with 104 inspired
singers. We won division and placed 8th at the 1995 district contest in
Houston.
Great things are coming at Town North in 1996. |
