The Sounds of Enchantment was chartered May 30, 1986 in Alamogordo, NM with 35 members. We have practiced weekly since that time and keep busy with performances and other activities.

The first president of the Sounds of Enchantment was Fred W. Shearer. The only music director for these 14 years is Dewey Wiens. The officers for the chapter have always been very active.

The Sounds of Enchantment have enjoyed continued success in joint efforts with the El Paso Borderchorders and surrounding barbershoppers. We perform sing-outs regularly supporting the United Way, doing Memorial Day programs and Lions Club programs in Ruidoso, NM. We have an annual show which has helped to support

Heartspring for the past 12 years. We also sing at the two local rest homes during the Christmas season.

Quartets have been available on Valentines Day to sing and present flowers at personal requests. Funds raised in this manner support the chapter This has been a very popular activity through the years.

Every member of the Sounds of Enchantment, including some high school boys that practice during the school year, are performing songs that support the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America and are committed to singing as a Chapter
