Rupert Hall

A charter member of the Tulsa chapter, Rupert was also known as the "Royal Keeper of the Minor Keys". He was voted first president of the newly formed Society in 1939 and proudly served for a year but became less involved afterwards as he built his business, Hall Investments.
Following retirement, he again became active in society affairs supporting the Institute of Logopedics as our unified service project.
He passed away in 1972 at the age of 70.

Joe Lewis

Our society's 16th president, Joe Lewis was one of only four men elected to two consecutive terms of office. During his administration, Harmony Hall in Kenosha was acquired fulfilling the  dream  of a  permanent international headquarters. A native of Pittsburgh, Joe moved to Dallas in 1939 and became a personal friend of O.C. Cash. An early member of the Dallas chapter, he also was a charter member of the 1958 Garland chapter (which later became Town North).
Joe was very active in The Dallasaires quartet singing lead. Along with Harold Rusk (T), Ernie Boring (Br), and Aylett Fitzhugh (Bs) they won the district championship in 1951 and became avery popular show quartet throughout the district. In international competition they placed 19th and 11th in 1951 and 1952 respectively.
A banker by profession, Joe was elected SWD President in 1954 and served the society as a certified stage

presence judge. He is also the only president to see two quartets from his district win the gold medals during his tenure.
