With many Headquarters and District dignitaries in attendance, a memorial plaque was dedicated and placed in a small park on the site of the Alvin Plaza Hotel. (The park was later turned into a parking lot, and the plaque was removed for safe-keeping. Tulsa manned a booth at the Tulsa State Fair to generate membership. (This successful approach to membership recruiting continues today).
