division contest was in Jennings. We finished
second to Houston and qualified for district where
we finished ninth.
The present name of "Texas Triplex" was
chosen in 1985 when it seemed that no one could
properly pronounce "Sabine Area". "Texas Triplex"
was the name that most of the area media was using.
The chapter bulletin "The Tag" was begun in
1964 with Lloyd KirMand as the editor. This has
continued to be published for 31 years. The
Southwestern District Bulletin Editor of the Year
was awarded to Jim Darnall by District President
Harbert Newton in 1967.
