.Barbershopper of the Year for 1986. His most recent job
was as District Music Educator where he produced Harmony Ranch for several
years.
Our current champion is the Director Terry Mercing. Terry joined the
chapter in the 70's and soon became a director. He has taken sabbaticals
on two occasions, both times returning to lead the chapter to new levels.
He has attended Director's College the last three years and is now a highly
qualified director, coach, and quartet singer, and teaches COTS classes.
Terry sang in the Sound Confederation with Glen Chambers, and is now in
one of the best quartets in the district, Par Four.
Over the years, the Greater Litfie Rock chapter has been a model of
community involvement, singing each year at local hospitals and nursing
homes, at the Christmas tree lighting at |
the state Capitol, sending a quartet to an annual Kidney
Foundation benefit, and a host of other programs. They were among the leaders
in having a very successful Singing Valentines program and contributed
generously from the proceeds to The Institute for Logopedics/Heartspring
for many years.
The chapter struggled to keep 30 active members through much of its
history, but has shown tremendous growth the last two years, even having
an article in the Harmonizer about our progress. The current membership
is 57 singers, and we are committed to reaching the next plateau of membership.
The future is bright in the Diamond State Chorus of the Greater Litfie
Rock Chapter. We have set optimistic but realistic goals for membership,
performance quality, and hobby enjoyment, and have become one of the chapters
to watch in the years to come. |
