Bob Calderwood - Baritone
Bob attributes his enjoyment of singing to his father, a long-time scoutmaster, who loved
to teach the scouts songs from his own youth in the 1920's. Bob grew up hearing the strains
of "I've Been Workin' on the Railroad", "Bill Grogan's Goat", "The Horses Run Around", and
many more. Bob enjoyed singing in church and in school and his interest in barbershop was
begun when he tried out for a part in his high school's production of "The Music Man".
While he didn't make the quartet, the experience left a lasting impression. Through years
of college and a career as an engineer, the idea of someday singing in a barbershop quartet
was never too far below the surface. Bob finally joined the Barbershop Harmony Society
(SPEBSQSA) in 2004 and within weeks was actively quartet-ing. He is a member of the
Orange Empire Chorus, where he serves as chapter secretary, and the
Orange, California Quartet Chapter.
