RMD Editor Steve Jackson says 'thank you!'

By Steve Jackson

I learned of my acceptance into the PROBE Hall of Honor early Saturday morning, July 7, via an email sent me by Jim Styer. My usual morning routine involves checking my e-mail for new messages while spilling coffee all over myself. There was a message from a fellow Barbershopper in Longmont simply saying, "I just heard, congratulations! Still sleepy, I'm thinking to myself, "Mountain Talk won the IBC? No way!" Then, it clicked in as I saw the message from Jim just below. I think I woke up the whole city of Golden with my "Oh my God!" I was literally shaking and crying. What an honor!

I was aware that Denver Mountainaires Chapter President, Dick Cable, had submitted my name for nomination, which had been endorsed by RMD President Homer Hatcher. I owe these two men my public thanks. I was thankful and happy just to be considered. Knowing some of the many talented men that have already entered the Hall of Honor, I was shaking my head and thinking to myself, "What have I really done to deserve this? Jackson, you're a lucky stiff!"

Well, now that I've calmed down a little bit, I would like to publicly thank all PROBE members for including me within this prestigious group of selfless, hard-working men. I am so humbled and so very thankful; I sincerely hope that I can continue to contribute to my chapter, my district, to PROBE, and to the Society for many years to come.

Usually, I am not at a loss for words ('dats why I iz uh eddittior! - darn spellcheck). This award means a lot to me. Thanks to all my friends who have called and/or e-mailed me to say congratulations! Like the moose in the Pepboys TV commercial - I DO APPRECIATE IT! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

It's great to be a Barbershopper!
