PROBE action items

By Grady Kerr, PRESIDENT

The PROBE Executive Committee met in Kansas City and discussed these items and made the following decisions.

IBC Chairman Appointment - Procedures

One item that seems confusing was who appoints the IBC chairman. The PROBE By-Laws under Section I. President, it states the President may appoint ... IBC chairman by November 15. If you look on our Web page under IBC guidelines it states: "An IBC chairman shall be appointed by the PROBE vice-president for bulletin editors (VP-BE)."
Action: The By-Laws are correct and the Web page will be changed to reflect this accurately.

What's In A Name? IBC vs. BETY

The difference in name of the two contests supported by PROBE each year may be confusing - the BETY and the IBC. By name alone they infer two different contests. One appears for bulletins and one for editors.
Action: The names will remain the same to differentiate the two levels of awards and competition. Both are awarded to recognize the editor and his outstanding work. No change is necessary.

PROTY Traveling Trophy? LOST?

There was a Traveling Trophy awarded to the PROTY (as recently as 1994). The current location of this trophy is not known.
Action: Find The PROTY Trophy ASAP. Place an APB in PROBEmoter. The VP-PR will research a list of the past PROTY winners since 1993.

COTS Outline -Committee Needed

PROBE will creating a BE course to be incorporated into the COTS curriculum.
Action: Volunteers for this Committee are being sought - the deadline for the completion of this COTS outline is September 1, 2000. Contact the President at swdroundup@aol.com.

Bulletin Exchange List

The bulletin exchange list only has 38 editors on it. More are needed.
Action: Promote this list vigorously. An assistant for Lloyd Davis is requested ASAP. Volunteers should contact the President ASAP.

Kenosha Mailing Lists

Some editors (especially the District Editors) have had some problems with the list and labels provided by Kenosha.
Action: Scott Hoge will address these problems after KC and also create a DBE list.

PROBE Historian Still Sought

Last year outgoing President Waldo Redekop asked for a volunteer to serve as historian for PROBE. No responses as yet.
Action: Volunteers will be asked to contact the president as soon as possible.
