It's Beginning To Sound A Lot Like Christmas...

At least it is every Tuesday night at Northminster Presbyterian Church.  Director Dave Doheny is shaking off the cobwebs or our Christmas repertoire.  This year as always the Christmas season for the FIESTA BARBERSHOP CHORUS is a busy one.  Our annual Tannenbaum Express is scheduled for December 10th.  This is when the Chorus travels around Escambia County singing to residents of local nursing homes and senior centers.  Then on December 17th we will be presenting again "Our Christmas Gift to Pensacola".  This is another Chorus tradition benefiting two very worthy local charities...ARC Gateway and Manna House.  As always there is no admission charge but concert goers are asked to donate a donation of cash or food to one or both charities.  The Chorus is also scheduled to participate this year in "Carols at Olde Seville", celebrating the 2011 holiday season with hot chocolate, caroling by candlelight and a free holiday-themed concert.  The date is December 22nd.  For more information contact the Heritage Foundation at www.pensacolaheritage.org.
The Christmas season is not our only busy season.  Up coming events include
  • October 3rd, Youth in Harmony at Coastline Calvary Chapel, Gulf Breeze
  • October 7th, October Fest, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Gulf Breeze
  • December 10th, Tannenbaum Express
  • December 17th, Christmas Concert, Gateway Church of Christ, Brent Road, Pensacola
  • December 22, Carols in Olde Seville
  • February 14th, the 2012 Singing Valentines Event
  • February 25th, "Remember When", the 2012 annual show featuring 60's music.

In addition to the Chorus' activities our local quartets are staying busy performing at nursing homes and private parties and events. Looking for a fun way to stay healthy?  Try singing.  According to an article in Senior Living Magazine singing is an ageless enjoyment - you're never too young or too old.  People who sing with others experience a wide range of joys and benefits. Members of singing groups enjoy meeting new people, breathing better, and feeling more alert and emotionally uplifted. Singing provides a direct and immediate sense of happiness and takes your mind off the stresses of the day.

Come stay healthy with us.  We meet every Tuesday evening at 6:45 PM at t he Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1100 East 9 Mile Road, Pensacola.   For more information about the FIESTA BARBERSHOP CHORUS and the activities listed, please email Dave, or call  850-937-6873.
