In early February each year, the 40 or so members of the Sound of the Foothills chorus all turn into quartet singers for our 'Singing Valentine's Day' program! The chapter forms into as many quartets as possible, practices a number of sure-to-please Valentine theme songs, and prepares to MELT hearts for miles around!

Valentines Day; A big Success
As we started out that February 14th morning at 6:45AM we didn't have any idea what was in store for us. We had a couple of first timers and some old timers on the quartets. All of us were very excited to get out there and give it a go. As usual things didn't go as smoothly as planned. One person was delayed because of a pet emergency and another made it to the radio station just in time. Well that was the start of a very wonderful day.

The G.O.P. Quartet (that's Gridley, Oroville and Paradise Quartet) traveled all over the county.  Our schedule took us down to Gridley, over to Oroville, then up to Paradise. The second quartet performed in Chico. We call them the Radio Harmony Quartet (RHQ). In their very smooth barbershop styling they sang that morning on the radio. They were so good that it generated 5 more Singing Valentines. They did a great job.

One of the final Singing Valentine  delivered was at the Elks Lodge. There was a crowd of about 200 people having a wonderful time with their sweethearts. As we came in we were greeted and introduced by Norm Stump the M.C. Well from the very start Denny was right in the thick of it  working the crowd. Great guy that Denny. We started our show, they were so warm and receptive that we sang 3 more songs. We even had the coordinator and another barber-shopper come up and sing with us. It was a great time for all. They even passed the hat and we received an extra $126.00!

Thank you all for your support and courage to get out there and represent our chapter. Hope to be seeing and hearing more quartets for next year.
