About Us
Stacey St. John, Tenor – With her dad, grandpa and uncle all being barbershoppers, Stacey had a childhood full of 4-part harmony and loved every minute of it! Her husband, Chad, started barbershopping at age 9, and his legendary mom, Judy St. John, won International in 1974 with The Sounds of Music. Stacey had 6 wonderful years with Judy before her passing in 1998 and is honored to carry the St. John name. While being ditzy and silly on stage, she is more “normal” in her everyday life (well, it depends on who you ask!) Stacey owns and operates her own advertising company, and she and Chad, now married for 15 years, have two boys, Hayden (10) and Brendan (5). Her other hobbies include…wait a minute; she doesn’t have any other hobbies! She does, however, stay quite busy with church, family, quartet, and work. Stacey is our quartet’s fund-raising guru and prior to Moxie Ladies, she sang in Success Express with Gretchen and her sister, Michelle, and Kerry Denino (baritone of SPOTLIGHT).
Gretchen Holloway, Bass – Gretchen spent her formative years listening to barbershop harmony as sung by many members of her immediate and extended family. It didn’t take long for barbershop to become her passion and the illusive title “Queen of Harmony” to become her dream. In her pre-teen and teen years she indulged herself in the hobby. Attending conventions and singing tags was her favorite past time. She joined the chorus, became choreographer and section leader. At the young age of 16 she was ready for her first “real quartet”. Together with sister, Michelle, they began what turned out to be a very successful and educational journey with Success Express, two time International quartet finalists. The experience she gained as a performer and competitor in this arena was invaluable and helped mold Gretchen into the bass she is today. She also sang and performed at local venues with Gashang, a folk progressive band. Gretchen is our quartet’s “hair genius” and can whip out an up-do faster and better than the rest of us can ever dream! In her real life, Gretchen is a marketing consultant for a local advertising firm.
Jennifer Perry-Edwards, Lead - Jennifer was introduced to barbershop during high school and while studying music at Bowling Green State University. Jennifer graduated with both music education and vocal performance bachelors degrees. Jennifer, who also has her masters in Education, became a high school and middle school vocal music teacher immediately following graduation. Jennifer was recently honored as the recipient of the 2008 SAI/MENC Music Education Award. Jennifer is a sought after coach and clinician, and a faculty member and director for a variety of summer youth music camps. In her “spare” time she performs with her traditional Dixieland jazz band, Chuck Taylor & the Dixie Squid, in which she plays banjo and is the lead vocalist. She collects Converse tennis shoes... her closet is actually filled with 68 pairs! She is the quartet’s own jewelry designer/creator and a master scrap-booker! Before Moxie Ladies, Jennifer sang lead (with Amy) in Region 17’s two-time Regional Champion quartet, Distinction.
Amy Leacock, Baritone – Amy was introduced to barbershop when she was a student of music at Bowling Green State University. After college she sang jingles, which were aired nationwide, with three members of The Ritz (1991 SPEBSQSA Champions) and sang baritone with Jenn in Distinction. Besides her current work as a high school and middle school music teacher, she is a certified OMEA adjudicator and faculty member for a variety of musical theater camps. She recently started her own business making learning CD’s for Sweet Adeline & Barbershop organizations (www.harmonize.com/amyleacock). She is quickly building a lengthy reference list! Amy is our “official” rehearsal manager and list maker. (If you ever need to tell somebody something…just so you’ll remember it yourself…tell Amy! She’ll have it written on a post-it note in no time…followed up by an email!) She and her husband, Chris, yet another barbershopper, enjoy spending time with their adorable 4-year old daughter McKenzie. Amy also enjoys scrap-booking, reading, and shopping in her spare time.
