A Day Of Quartets

When:  A Saturday in September

Where: Somewhere in Shallotte

Who:  Anyone interested in singing in more quartets than they do now

Why:  Become a better singer and sing in quartets with fellow barbershoppers from other chapters

Each participating chapter will select two songs from their repertoire.  Therefore, if there are five chapters, ten songs will be available.  All ten songs will then be provided to all men, probably in March, willing to participate.

Upon arrival and registration, names will be placed in appropriate bowls by part.  A fifth bowl will contain the ten songs.  After a period of singing in random, pick-up quartets, the selection process will begin.  One name from the lead bowl will be picked, and then the lead will pick his partners and song from the other four bowls.   If there are more than ten quartets, the song bowl will be refreshed.  Since there is a slim chance that there will be an equal number of parts, several people will sing in two quartets, but all will sing in one.

Some time will be allowed for the quartets to practice, after which there will be a contest, with three judges.  The top quartets (number to be determined) will sing again (different song) to decide the overall top three.

If there are any costs, they will be determined in advance and split.
