Our director, Rich
Gray, is a life-long singer and musician, whose talents have taken
him across the country and abroad. With a diverse musical background,
Rich brings a unique look at the Barbershop style. He consistantly
strives to extract everything that a musical score has to offer.
Rich started singing early on, in school choruses and church choirs.
By age 10, he was singing 4-part harmony around the dinner table with
his brother and two sisters. In his early teens, Rich learned to play
the guitar. Self-taught, he soon became very active in everthing from
small acoustic ensembles to full blown rock-n-roll bands.
At age 23, Rich became a member of The Society for the Preservation
and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, Inc. He
joined the Wilmington, Delaware Chapter, The Chorus of the Brandywine,
and quickly formed his first quartet, Runaway Sound which included
two family members. That quartet went on to become the 2001 Mid-Atlantic
District Quartet Champions. This honor landed him and his fellow quartet
members a permanent slot in the Mid-Atlantic District Association of
Quartet Champions (MADAQC).
