Lynda Mason Tenor Music & harmonizing have been part of Lynda's life for as long as she can remember. There were piano lessons from age 6, church music, and school choruses and musicals.
She and husband, Ron, discovered barbershop harmony in 1971. She sang with Sweet Adelines for about 10 years, he joined SPEBSQSA. In 1987, Lynda, Sue Trenchard & Carol McDonnell founded the NFCA Chorus. "IMAGES" was formed about that time, and you know the rest. Ron, our "Coach Extraordinaire", also directs the Friends of Harmony (SPEBSQSA) Chorus and our NFCA Chorus. He is currently baritone of By Design (1990 Ontario District Champs & 7 time International Reps). Their 3 children, Randy, Carol & David, went to sleep many nights with barbershop 7ths ringing in their heads. Music plays a big part in their lives, too. Besides their careers, Randy is a church musician, Carol a champion baritone (see below), and Dave has sung in a several quartets with his Dad. Occasionally a group called Family Tradition makes an appearance. It is a family quartet which will include children & grandchildren (Shawn, Hannah, Michael & Eric), as they are available. In 1991, Lynda & Ron opened CENTURY 21 Lakeshore in Hamburg, capitalizing on her 25 years experience as a Realtor.Working with Team "IMAGES" has been a journey filled with great experiences, growth, and now, a goal achieved - the International Championship. But the journey doesn't end here. There's a new destination - being the best they can be, and sharing Harmony. Lynda is proud to stand beside the fabulous Sue, Karin, and daughter Carol, making music and representing Harmony, Inc. as 97-98 Harmony Queens.
Sue Trenchard Lead Sue Trenchard has been barbershopping since 1981 when she joined a Buffalo area Sweet Adeline chorus. In 1987, the time was right toco-found a Harmony, Inc. chapter, Niagara Frontier Chord Authority, along with tenor- Lynda Mason and Area 3 Rep.- Carol McDonnell. She has sung lead with "IMAGES" since 1987, and is so proud to be a Harmony Queen! Sue is now co-director of NFCA, along with Ron Mason. She has served many offices on the NFCA Board and has been an Area 3 council member since 1987 (first as NFCA president, then as quartette promotion coordinator, and currently as parliamentarian). She has served as an advisor to Harmony, Inc's International Board of Directors as Quartette Chairman since 1995. Sue is married to a barbershopper, Jack, and theyhave three boys, Jeff (20), Craig (16), and Steven (11). All boys are also "musically inclined". She combines two of her great loves - music and children- to teach music at three area pre-schools. She, thankfully, is an afternoon receptionist. Music has "made all of the difference" in her life.
Carol Zeffiro Baritone Carol's love of barbershop music began in the late 70'swhen the family attended their first SPEBSQSA Conventionwhere her father's quartet, The Empire Express, was to compete. After experiencing the fun, music and competition, she was hooked and decided to give it a try.At the time, Carol's mother (Lynda Mason) was singing with aSAI chorus. Carol joined and sang with this chorus fora very short time. This is where she met Sue and Betty. Little did she know that she would be competing andwinning the coveted crowns with them in the future!Scheduling conflicts (voice lessons, cheerleading, musicals, social life of a teen, etc., etc.) caused her to turnin her new wig and false eyelashes - much to her regret,of course. In 1987, Carol joined the newly chartered chapter of HarmonyInc., Niagara Frontier Chord Authority. Her father (Ron Mason)directs the chorus and her mother is a charter member(no pressure there!). Sue and Betty were also chartermembers. In the chorus, Carol acts as Baritone sectionleader and a board member. She is very proud to be apart of such a hard-working chorus. In 1991, Carol was asked to fill a baritone vacancy in FOREMOST (with Mary Wegryzn, Susie English, Betty LouFord). They competed for a year and a half at area and international contests. Shortly after their breakup,Carol was asked to help "Images" to complete the year'scommitments after baritone Betsy Walits had to leavethe quartette. While doing so, they had such a good time, that they decided to compete in the following internationalcontest. Being pleased with their sixth place finish, theycontinued. From there, with lots of hard work and the never-ending coaching and encouragement of "Head Coach"Ron and many others, they began their climb to the top. Carol feels extremely lucky to have been asked to sing with such extraordinarily talented, hard-working, and understanding people. It's always with great pridethat she can say that she shares this wonderful hobbywith two of her closest friends and her parents whohave become so much more than that. They have becomewonderful friends and partners as well. Carol has always viewed barbershop harmony as hertherapy to get her through the wrenches that are throwninto everyday life. She is extremely proud and honoredto represent Harmony Inc. as the members of thisorganization have been so much a part of her "therapy".She can't thank HI enough for the good times, goodthoughts, and the friendships that will last a lifetime. In addition to singing with NFCA and "Images", Carol sings lead with the Mason family quartet, Family Tradition(Ron - bass, brother Dave - baritone, Lynda - tenor). They are working on getting some 5-part arrangementsso that they can talk Carol's older brother Randy into joining in on the fun. Carol lives in Brant, New York with her extremely supportive and loving husband, "Saint" Frank and her incredible sons Michael and Eric, ages 7 and 4. These little guys will be breaking into the barbershop scene soon enough with Family Tradition. And in the future? Who knows. Mike is already thinking about cool names for his future quartet. He wanted Keepsake or Accoustix, but they were already taken. :)
