THE BARRELTONES QUARTET

Gene, Jim, Steve and Dave first sang together in an intrachapter quartet contest in Bowie, MD, in 1993. It was a first-time experience for Jim, Steve and Dave, and with Gene's encouragement, they decided to take the plunge and register as a SPEBSQSA quartet.

The guys pondered, worried and fretted, trying to come up with a unique name for the quartet. At the suggestion of a close friend, who suggested they consider the "space differential" four barrels created while standing at stage microphones, BARRELTONES QUARTET seemed appropriate.

The quartet loves to perform and has been asked to perform at numerous local, county and state government events, barbershop shows and performances, and private parties. 1n 1997 the quartet entered a regional novice quartet contest in Fairfax, VA, taking overall third place and best comedy quartet.

Jim Klapp, Lead, resides in Bowie, MD, and is an eight year veteran of the society and the Bowie Knights of Harmony.

Gene Galletta, Tenor, is a long-time resident of Laurel, MD, and has been barbershopping for over 26 years. Gene has sung in several quartets and has been a chorus director. Gene is also a member of the Bowie Knights of Harmony.

Steve Ridgely, Baritone, is the youngster of the group and the only Maryland native. Steve resides in Catonsville and is a member of the Heart of Maryland chapter and chorus.

Dave George, Bass, also lives in Bowie just down the street from Jim. Dave is also a member of the Heart of Maryland chapter and chorus.
