Buying the Arrangements

Authorized Copies

You can buy copies of the arrangements directly from this site, as explained below. You will receive the number of copies that you ordered, numbered sequentially, and a letter confirming that you purchased that number of legal copies.

What follows may seem draconian to you, but these are copyright laws, not my rules. Making unauthorized copies is illegal and can subject you to fines of thousands of dollars per copy. In addition, copyright law requires that you purchase a separate copy for every performer - sharing is not allowed. The music licensing organizations - ASCAP and BMI and their counterparts in other countries - can and do send covert investigators to look for illegal copies, and individuals and organizations have been bankrupted as a result.

It is highly recommended that you keep a record of who has each copy together with the letter of confirmation. This will stand you in good stead if you are ever investigated.

Payment Method

This site uses PayPal's secure shopping cart service. Each arrangement listed has "Add to Cart" buttons for the arrangement fee, for additional copies, and for part-specific learning tracks. There are also "View Cart" buttons, which allow you to view the items you have selected and to make any changes. You can then either proceed to the checkout, continue shopping, or cancel the transaction. At the checkout, you will be asked for your shipping address and for your credit card information (again, this service is secure - you will see "https" in the URL). After checkout you will be returned to this site.

You do not have to have a PayPal account, nor do you have to create one, in order to use this service, but at checkout you will be given the option of creating one. Creating a PayPal account costs nothing and makes future PayPal transactions easier, but this is entirely your choice. PayPal transactions never cost anything for the buyer; the seller pays a small percentage of the transaction amount.

All payments are in US dollars, but arrangements can be shipped to anywhere in the world.

Uncleared Arrangements

Some of the arrangements on this site have not yet been cleared with the copyright holders. In these cases, it may take up to two months to obtain the clearance and to deliver your order. These uncleared arrangements are clearly marked.

Arrangement Fee

The arrangement fee for single song arrangements is US$50 each, for medleys it is US$75 each. This fee includes shipping and handling. You must pay the arrangement fee in order to purchase additional copies and learning tracks, but once you have paid that fee, you may return up to a year later and purchase further copies up to a total of 100.

Per-Copy Fee

Copies of songs in Public Domain (usually those originally published before 1923) cost US$1.65 each.

Copies of songs under copyright are set by the copyright holders, and are listed with the individual arrangements with shipping and handling included. The per copy fee is passed on to the copyright holder.

Buying Through The Barbershop Harmony Society

Most of the arrangements listed on this site are or will be also included in the Barbershop Harmony Society's Music Catalog together with many other arrangements.

Custom Arrangements

Custom arrangements can be made by request. If you allow the arrangement to be listed on this web site (and with the BHS), the cost for a single song arrangement is US$200, for a medley US$300, plus the copyright holders' arrangement license charges (usually US$50 or US$60 per song). If you wish to keep the arrangement for your use only, the costs are US$350 (single), US$450 (medley), plus the copyright holders' charges.

To adapt an existing arrangement for men's voices to women's (or vice versa - and no, you can't just transpose them), or to adapt an existing arrangement for a specific quartet or chorus, the cost is US$100.
