About Our Chorus

The first chapter of Sweet Adelines was organized in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1945.
Today there are more than 600 choruses throughout the world.

Our chapter was chartered in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1949 under the name Sunshine City. We have the distinction of being the first chorus chartered in the original region 9 - which consisted of the entire southeastern part of the United States. July 1999 marked the 50th anniversary of our charter!

In 1992, our chapter had a new beginning. Two existing choruses (Sunshine Skyway and Gulf to Bay) consolidated into the present Gulf to Bay Chorus. We are a non-profit educational music organization, dedicated to promoting the art of singing Barbershop Harmony. We entertain regularly throughout the community and are committed to the advancement of Barbershop harmony through education and performances.
