BOARD ACTIONS
Highlights Of Recent Board Meetings:
June 18 2003:
Discussion was held concerning low attendance at Tuesday night rehearsals. Ken Moelk indicated he had contacted some non-attending members but did not get a good response. Secretary Bob Parker said he would prepare a list of non-attending members to be used in polling such members to try to determine reasons for not attending.
Up to date guest books needed. President Keyser to talk to Don Redshaw about preparing.
Considerable discussion held regarding a new location for annual show. Several board members in favor of moving annual show to a high school. Reasons include lower cost, free parking, stage with curtain, and location. Woodland Hills High School mentioned as a good choice due to location. Joe Veltre and Rich Stevens volunteered to look into the matter.
Hot Air Buffoons quartet being contacted as possible guest quartet for 2004 show.
Polecat Books needed so newer members can learn the current polecat songs.
Articles or photographs always accepted by Tom Koch or Fred Donofrio for the Pitchburgh Press.
Board members attending Apple Corps all thought it was a fantastic experience.
President Keyser made a comment about how guests perceive our chapter. We should each be thinking about whether or not it makes them excited enough to want to return.
July 23 2003:
John Kirwan presented a lengthy and detailed report of the 2003 Annual Show. John was commended for his excellent work. John made a recommendation to improve ticket sales for the 2004 show indicating that we need a group sales manager to promote the show to seniors groups. Asked his opinion regarding use of a high school, John indicated a former director had advised against it. He also commented that wives would like a night out at a nicer venue.
A show chairman is still needed for the 2004 show.
A letter was received by international about having members join Barbershop.net for their internet service provider.
Angelo Glorioso replaced Bill Meyers (who resigned) on the board for the balance of Meyer's term.
A motion was unanimously passed to allocate $500 for the picnic. Chicken and Ham will be provided by the chapter with members to bring salads and desserts.
Still investigating use of high schools for show. Gateway H.S. did not return call. Woodland Hills pretty well booked in spring and school activities take precedence. If we book a date it would be confirmed. We only have a four month window to book a date for the show.
A motion was unanimously passed to donate $200 to the Heilwood Sportsmen's Club to support their picnic for special individuals from ICW Vocational Services, Inc.
