Nov-Dec 2005
Presidents Comments:
· Grant proposal researching course [attendance] will be scrapped.
· Joe Veltre and others were approached for president position. As of this date, Joe had not said "no" as all others did so far.
· Metro chapter asked for support of their Harmony Festival. We will contact high schools to promote barbershopping, not membership. Festival is Nov. 12, 2005.
· Livewire update: stay legal with respect to music copyrights; Society has grown; Director of Music position for JAD is open.
· Local chapters reluctant to sponsor divisional contests due to shrinking profits.
· E-mail invitation for Ron Brooks to see us was nicely done.
· Notes from Ron Brooks' letter to chapter: wants to simplify music if possible - some tenors going flat - some tenors could be baritones - singing techniques could be improved - tendency for chorus to "oversing" - baritones must not woodshed arrangements - solo voices in chorus are a "no-no" - need better attendance at performances - some may need to be reauditioned. Ron provided a list of dates he is not available for performances due to work commitments.
· George Kosak will take show ad responsibility from Vaughn Eggert. Need barbershopper of the year award [decision]. Bob Parker will ask Joe Veltre to stay on Awards Committee. Ron Brooks may help with singing valentines. Joe DeFilippo to be asked to revive quarteting.
Show Committee:
Bob Parker to ask Quality Printing about free posters. Need to arrange for a sound/lighting service (J. V. Chuko Brothers will be contacted re availability and price). Show will start at 7:00 PM. Parking will be in the same building. There will be several new songs so may be tough to learn by show time. Secretary will order new music.
