Angelo Michael Spampinato 1922 - 2004

On Oct 25 , members of the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter and many other local barbershoppers visited the Neely Funeral Home to give a singing farewell to our fellow barbershopper, Ange Spampinato. Ange was a 43 year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and now leaves to join other departed brothers in the Chapter Eternal. We will always remember how Ange sang his chosen baritone part with an accuracy to pitch that many cannot achieve and he could always tell (and usually did) when other singers, baritone or otherwise, had drifted away from their part and were out of tune. Ange was a practice-tioner of, and very adept at, the Solfegio method of singing.

In addition to being a long time member of the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter and the Three Rivers Chorus, Ange was a dedicated member of the veterans hospital barbershop singers. Ange was there most every Wednesday morning greeting resident veterans pushing a wheel chair, shaking a hand or just offering a smile and word of encouragement.

All of us in the Barbershop Harmony Society and the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter will greatly miss Ange. Our condolences and sympathies are extended to wife Rose and all members of Ange's extensive family.

Farewell Russ & Jane Keyser

On Saturday November 20th, members of the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter gathered at the Beulah Church social hall to participate in a farewell testimonial to Russ & Jane Keyser as they prepare to move to Clemmons, North Carolina. As members of Greater Pittsburgh, we were saying farewell to a 41 year member who epitomized all that a barbershopper should be. I don't have space in one issue of this bulletin to do justice to all Russ has done and accomplished in his long tenure.
