BOARD ACTIONS

Highlights of recent board meetings:

Oct. 15th & Nov. 19th 2003 (combined)

Bill McVeagh volunteered to serve as chairman of the Ladies Night Out with assistance to be provided by Tom Steimer. Assuming approx. 60 member attendance, chapter should be able to cover member dinner cost, with each member paying for guest(s). Member involvement in chapter activities will be disregarded toward costs. The event will include installation of officers.

George Mayer was appointed assistant treasurer by President Keyser at request of Treasurer Steimer.

Motion made and seconded to accept John Matusz membership.

Music Man Program postponed until a TBD date in the spring of 2004.

Motion was made and seconded to investigate the purchase of a tape copying machine.

Treasurer Steimer suggested that the chapter consider purchase of fire and theft insurance. Action was tabled pending obtaining further information.

Motion made and seconded to sell the chapter electric generator which was used in the past to power a sound system.

Treasurer Steimer informed the board that a previously announced grant from Pennsylvania may not be forthcoming as a result of state budget problems.

President comments - Need to give high priority to obtaining new members; 2004 Eastern Division Contest to be in Wheeling, WV; 2004 Apple Corps to host Classic Collection quartet; President Keyser submitted application in res ponse to Blaine Bushong letter regarding nominations for Quality Chapter of the Year.

General discussion items - Need to get more members involved in quartet activities; Society dues increased by $2; $3 will be charged to renew lapsed membership; the E-mail Livewire Report a good source of info. (log to spebsqsa.org to get on mail list); Joe DeFilippo suggested use of gift certificates for singing valentines, BD's, Anniv's., etc. (Bob Parker volunteered to develop a certificate.
