Have you ever wondered where we got the sketch of the Pittsburgh skyline used on our bulletin masthead? The "old" masthead sketch pictured at left above was in use prior to December 1988. It was designed by Don Smith, Jr. and was in use for quite a long time. However, significant changes had been made to the Pittsburgh skyline and it was decided that an update was needed. The new masthead and sketch pictured at right above was first used on the Dec. 1988 edition. This artistic rendition of the Pittsburgh skyline was drawn by our own Tony Sangermano in 1988 at the request of then editor, Joe Knittel. The masthead is essentially the same as used today with the addition of a border and the Three Rivers Chorus logo. Tony had studied art in the late 1940's under Simboli, a professor of art at the old Carnegie Tech. Tony also used to paint church murals with La Bella before he became a furniture reupholsterer and refinisher. And you thought he could only sing tenor!

Status of Bulletin Archive File:

In the Sept.-Oct. 2003 issue of this bulletin, I asked for help in collecting old issues of the Pitchburgh Press to establish an archive file for reference and historic purposes. Thanks to Sandy Amos and Jim McCarthy I have collected a significant number of issues but many are still missing. Status is:

1999-2003, have all copies - 1998, need prior to April

1997, need Jan thru April and Oct thru Dec

1996, need all if there was a bulletin published.

1995, need Feb & Dec - 1994, need Sept thru end of year

1993 & 1992, have all - 1991, need July thru end of year

1990, need June - need all issues prior to Dec.1988

"There 's more, much more to Christmas Than candle-light and cheer;

It's the spirit of sweet friendship, That brightens all the year;

It's thoughtfulness and kindness, It's hope reborn again

For peace, for understanding

And for goodwill toward men."
