BOARD ACTIONS

Summary of September 22, 2004 board meeting minutes as submitted by Gary Corpora, Secretary:

10 board members were present.

Current chapter membership is 65.

President Parker's comments:

· Barberpole cat program to begin following receipt of books and tapes.

· John Powers will revise phone tree to use captains who are easier to reach.

· Frank Pagliarulo will not continue as Publicity chair. Society now requires a position of VP of Marketing and Public Relations [for chapters with 25 or more members] starting in 2005.

· Joe Veltre will step down as VP of Music and Performance.

· Chapter will not request a refund from the school for the night we had to cancel practice.

· Board favors the idea of selling barbershop paraphemalia at the show as the material is available from the Society on consignment, so we cannot lose money. Someone is needed to take charge of this.

· Bob Parker will submit the chapter web site for award consideration.

· Rich Stevens, Joe Veltre, and Bob Parker will meet Steve Wyszomierski, our Chapter Counselor.

· Regarding chapter future direction, consensus still remains that our singing MUST IMPROVE.

· Bernie Sinwell suggested that we sponsor a Gateway Clipper ride and invite other local chapters.

· Much discussion followed on whether chapter should go to competition, and under what conditions.

Membership and Development:

Bob Parker said he has a "natural tenor" that claims to want to join the chapter. Gary Corpora was delighted but remained cautiously optimistic.

Music and Performance:

Joe Veltre reported on director's workshop to be sponsored by chapter on Oct.2nd. Chapter chorus is needed for singing. District pays fee to school, but chapter must provide coffee & donuts, risers and two TVNCRs.

Show

2005 show on May 7 , Carnegie Music Hall. Guest quartet is Razzamatazz. Possible themes are patriotic or Tribute to the Ladies. Bob Parker suggested an audience sing-a-long in lieu of Banjo Club.
