Greater Pittsburgh Chapter Board Meeting

June 15, 2005

Meeting attendees:
Gary Corpora, Angelo Glorioso, Tom Koch, Bob
Parker, Ken Ernst, Don Redshaw, Bernie Sinwell,
Don Anderson, Joe Veltre.


President's report:

· Bob Parker submitted a proposal for a new contract with the school. The board decided that,as a minimum, we need two classrooms.

· Chapter still planning on going to competition. We will use two songs we already know as time and money preclude learning two new songs.

· Bob Parker suggested using an auction to raise money There is an organization that will conduct it but we must find a venue.

· Needs for next year's show: chairman, ticket man, and mailing list (Campbell's job).

· The next inter-chapter visitation is planned for September. North Hills chapter will host at a location near where they practice. Each director should select one song and all choruses will learn all songs selected (at least five).


Vice President Reports:

· Membership & Development - With the UCANSING2 program, you can earn big bucks by bringing in new members.

· Music & Performance - Chapter should try to take advantage of the Free and Easy" music available through the Society.


New Business:

· Should we consider sale of strip tickets to raise money?



Greater Pittsburgh Chapter Board Meeting

July 20, 2005

Meeting attendees:
Angelo Glorioso, Gordon Knapp, George Kosak,
Bob Parker, Ken Ernst, Don Redshaw, Bernie
Sinwell, Don Anderson.

President's comments:

· Bob Parker received a call from the head of finances at Trinity Christian School. Based on what they could be charging us for each individual room [that we use] they feel the rent we are paying is fair. We will continue to pay that amount until further notice


· Each member going to contest will be reminded to submit a check in the amount of $16 payable to the chapter to cover the member's registration fee.

· President Parker will discuss various fund raiser options with the chapter.

· Members having suggestions on how to improve our meetings and make them more interesting should talk with Joe DeFilippo.

· The Society's UCANSING2 program is coming up. We need a committee to make this a successful membership drive in our chapter.

· Anyone having any contact sources tor possible grant money should talk with President Parker.

· If Rev. Howe were to become our director, a fair salary would have to be negotiated.

· Bob Parker will serve as show chairman for 2006.

· John Kirwan has agreed to handle 2006 ticket sales again and will need help during part of the campaign. Tom Steimer agreed to form a committee to contact AARP and senior citizen groups to promote ticket sales.

· We need to offer North Hills Chapter help in putting together the inter-chapter meeting for Sept.

· Fred Donofrio has been asked to make a show flyer that we can use to hand out at chorus and quartet performances.


Vice President Reports:

· Membership and Development - Bob Parker asked if the phone tree captains were contacting members that had been absent for extended time. Don Redshaw did not have any feed back on how this program was working.


Committee Reports:

· Show Committee - Bob Parker will be the 2006 show chairman. Gordon Knapp and Joe Veltre have agreed to be on the committee. Bob will be asking for additional help. The show will be April 1, 2006 at the Soldiers and Sailors Hall.

· 2005 Show Report - John Kirwan presented a very thorough report of the ticket sales. John had an abundance of data and comments regarding the low ticket sales and suggestions on how it could be improved.


New Business:

· A motion was unanimously passed to approve sending a contract to the"Hot Air Buffoons" to appear on our 2006 show. [since the time of this meeting, the "Hot Air Buffoons" have accepted this contract. In addition the Pittsburgh Banjo Club will also be on the show.]
