"How well do you know your chapter, district, and Society?" A surprise quiz submitted by Bob Parker [what would you expect from a retired school teacher?]

Below is a little quiz to test how well you know your chapter, district and Society. The quiz is not designed to be graded or to destroy your "self esteem" if you don't know an answer. It is intended to be a "fun" way for some light-hearted self-examination. Of course, we expect no cheating or help from other members during your first attempt. Good luck!. Do the ones you know first, and then, if you are stuck, ask a member you think is knowledgeable. Don't come to me because I am not one of them.

Addendum to Quartet Beat - by Tom Koch:

I had my Quartet Beat column on page 5 all "camera ready" so had to add this here. Today (Sat. Aug. 7th) I happened to stop by a special sale and "customer appreciation" day at the Plum Line Nursery and I heard a quartet singing. I of course followed the sound and who did I find? Our own "Melodaires"with Gary Corpora, Frank Pagliarulo, Bob Parker and Ralph Rock. There they were, wandering amongst the trees, bushes and flowers singing to the customers. Don't anybody dare ask me if they sang "I See Trees." I was really glad to see another chapter quartet getting out there in the public eye. Keep it up guys!

Item: In 1896, when "Annie Rooney," "After The Ball," "Maggie Murphy's Home" and "Two Little Girls In Blue" were among the nation's favorite songs, the Clapp Brothers (Ralph, Randall, Albert and Arch) were singing them in four-part harmony. The quartet broke up in 1898 during the Spanish-American war, but the four brothers much later became members of SPEBSQSA in the Los Angeles area.
