Quartet Beat ~ Continued from Page 6

Moving on to chapter quartet activity about the area, on April 16th, a "pickup" quartet consisting of Bill Amos, Bill Hamilton, Jim McCarthy & Bob Parker sang to a group of "Red Hat" ladies meeting at the Alcoma Country Club. Now, if you're not familiar with the "Red Hat" ladies, there is a true social organization. They have no rules, no officers, no dues, no by-laws, no objectives of any kind other than to get together and socialize and have a good time.

Later on April 16th, Random Choice with Bill Amos, Tom Koch, Mark Pascarella and Dick Boch from the North Hills chapter sang to a group of seniors at the Beech-view Senior Center.

On April 23rd, Random Choice, (Amos, Hamilton, Koch & Pascarella) sang at the Hilton Garden Inn, Pittsburgh, Southpointe, at the 2004 Rotary District 7300 Conference. Greater Pittsburgh/Metro chapter dual member Stan Beck was in the audience, so the quartet invited him to do one number with us.

May 5th found Random Choice singing for the Saint Columbkille Senior Citizens at the St. Columbkille RC Church in Imperial, PA. This time, Jim McCarthy filled in at the lead spot.

At the request of Trinity Christian School, Random Choice participated in the school 2004 Choral. The quartet sang Lida Rose with Trinity Angela Dargay doing the female accompaniment. Then the quartet "backed up" a student Barbershop Crew (VLQ) in singing Coney Island Baby.

On Sunday May 23rd, Random Choice performed a group of Barbershop selections in an appearance at the Steel Valley Rotary Club sponsored Community Music Festival held at the Carnegie Library of Homestead Music Hall. For this performance, Stan Beck joined the quartet at the bass position. This music program featured The Community Choir, The East Wind Saxes, Random Choice and various vocal soloists. In an unanticipated portion of the program, Random Cboice lead the audience in a vaudeville spectacular sing along.

May 25th, Random Choice sang for an AARP group at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Wilkinsburg. For this performance, Jim McCarthy sang the lead spot. You must have noted by now the number of members who fill in at various parts of the Random Choice quartet. That's one of the reasons we are "random"

I sure would like to be reporting on quartet activity from several chapter quartets. Maybe, someday?
