Meet Our Director!

Congratulations Ruth on becoming a CERTIFIED DIRECTOR!!  GH looks forward to many many years of great things together!

Presenting……Our Director Ruth Carmichael of West Lorne, Ontario (coming to us September 28, 2004....)

Ruth lives in a small community west of London with husband Dougal.  They have 3 grown children (all boys!) and are very blessed with 6 grandchildren (3 boys and 3 girls!).

Ruth has been a member of Sweet Adelines for 25 years.  She started out singing with the Chatham Chorus (Kent County) and also directed them for about 3 years.

She is currently a member of the London Chorus (2004 Region 2 Champions) and has been a member for 15+ years.  Ruth has a broad barbershop and musical background.  She has served as an assistant director with London, is currently a section leader in London, an experienced choreographer, a quartet member, an assistant director and has even done some coaching.  She has sung lead, tenor and is currently taking on the most challenging “baritone” part (but insists she really enjoys it!)

In just 6 short months (albeit packed with practicing hard, many coaches, and new music), Ruth led our chorus to 2005 champion standings – Most Improved Chorus, First Place Small Chorus and Fifth Place Regional Chorus Champs!  What a team!  In 2006 we placed 3rd in a new category for us (Mid-Size).
