November, 1980.
Performing America Is show for a convention at the Contemporary Hotel. This show featured the Kids of the Kingdom, a bluegrass group, a ragtime piano player as well. The Dapper Dans would enter singing and playing the chimes on "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" followed by a costume change into keystone cops. In a short melodrama they would chase the villian across the stage and down into the audience. Another quick costume change and they would come back and sing and play "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," "Coney Island Baby" and a "Hometown Medley" with the band in which songs are used that have cities in the first line of the song. At the end of the show they would sing "Battle Hymn of the Republic" with the Kids of the Kingdom to a standing ovation.
