Perry Carter (lead) 1983
An accomplished musician and arranger, Perry is responsible for many of the excellent
custom arrangements that are still in the Dapper Dans repertoire today, especially ones
utilizing the Deagan Organ Chimes such as "All In The Golden Afternoon,"
"Wouldn't It Be Loverly" and "Standing On The Corner." Some of his
vocal arrangements include "When I See An Elephant Fly," "Jeanie With The
Light Brown Hair," and "Dear Hearts And Gentle People." Perry transcribed
many songs that had been passed down orally through previous years and notated them for
ease of learning and preservation. He also catalogued and organized the music library for
the group at the time - a large task indeed. Perry sang previously in the Dapper Dans in
the early 1960s and after a stint in the early 1980s returned to be a sub in the late
1990s. |
