In February of '83 the Dapper Dans were laid off due to budget cuts and were brought back in the Spring for 2 or 3 days a week. They were called upon to perform a variety of "character happenings" in which they would interact with Disney characters in "mini-skits" that contained dialogue and songs related to the particular characters. These included Mary Poppins and Alice in Wonderland in which the Dapper Dans were dressed as large playing cards from the movie.
