Early summer of 1973
Lead singer Creighton Hogan was director of the Simi Valley Chapter and in October of 1971 was asked by Dick Kneeland to come in and sub for Jerry Franz who was a pilot for TWA and had trouble working a full-week schedule with the quartet. He became the full-time lead singer in June of 1972 and would work until January of 1979, when he moved to Texas. In the early 1980s he came out of "Dapper Dan retirement" for a few summer months to sing with the Florida Dapper Dans when a quartet from that park was sent to the new park opening in Tokyo. Originally from Arkansas, Creighton spent 3 and 1/2 years on a destroyer in the South Pacific during WWII. He studied math and music at Eastern New Mexico University and taught math for over 30 years in New Mexico and Los Angeles. Photo courtesy Creighton Hogan.
