June, 1961.
A hot day on Main Street, U.S.A. near the Crystal Arcade. In the summer the quartet wore straw boaters, while in the winter they would change to felt bowlers. Fred Frank replaced Ted Nichols in the baritone slot. He would be in the Dapper Dans until September of 1961, then return to replace Gene Morford in November of 1965 and stay until late 1966. Fred graduated from Chapman College with a degree in Music Education and first taught choral music at Walker Jr. High in Cypress. Before and after doing the Dapper Dans, Fred was a studio singer, including a session with Frank Sinatra. He also directed the Fullerton Sweet Adelines Chapter and was a church choir director.
