The Dapper Dans sang with Julie Andrews and Wally Boag at a special press-only event on
the Golden Horseshoe stage to promote the next year's release of Mary Poppins. They
performed "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" with Ms. Andrews and Mr. Boag. The
Dapper Dans were very impressed with her charisma and the nice way in which she treated
them. Walt Disney had scored a major coup in signing Ms. Andrews, who was fresh from
Broadway stage triumphs in My Fair Lady and Camelot. Mary Poppins
(1964) was nominated for 13 Oscars (it won 5) and Ms. Andrews won Best Actress in her role
as the English nanny. |
