Over the years, the Dapper Dans have developed a great relationship with SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America). Thousands of barbershoppers from around the world seek out the Dapper Dans in order to share their love of barbershop harmony, sing a song with them and earn an Honorary Dapper Dan membership card . Through the years the Dapper Dans have been a featured quartet on numerous shows sponsored by local chapters of the "Society." In recognition of their promoting barbershop harmony for over 40 years, the Society honored all past and present Dapper Dans with an Honorary Main Street, U.S.A. Chapter of Disneyland during their International Convention in Anaheim, CA. In addition, Mickey Mouse was officially named "First Mouse of Harmony" on the contest stage at the convention. After a very warm reception from the audience, Mickey Mouse entered to greet over 10,000 barbershoppers who had come to Anaheim. The Dapper Dans then officially received the Charter and Resolution for the Honorary Main Street U.S.A. Disneyland Chapter from SPEBSQSA President Ed Waesche.

Public Relations Director Brian Lynch announces the Resolution naming Disneyland's Main Street U.S.A. an Honorary Chapter of the Barbershop Society, with all the Dapper Dans, past and present, as founding members.

Actor and Disney legend Dick Van Dyke plays the Deagan Organ Chimes with the Dapper Dans during a special barbershop performance at the Carnation Plaza Gardens Stage. Mr. Van Dyke was a guest emcee for this joint performance with the 1998  International Chorus Champions, the Alexandria (Virginia) Harmonizers.
