The Crosstown Exchange

One of Southeast Michigan's longest registered quartets!

ctx300.jpg - 70997 Bytes The quartet features George Bartlett, tenor, Don Stewart, Lead, Herb Hebner, Bass, and Steve Sutherland, baritone. We hail from Southeastern Michigan. George lives in Southfield, Don in Walled Lake, Herb in Westland, and Steve in Canton. Our contact man is Don (he's in the phone book), but since you're reading this here, Steve's e-mail address is probably your easier contact. (see the bottom of the page)

The quartet has sung together since 1977, forming back when we were... well let's say younger. Over the years we have enjoyed competition where we placed as high as second in our district (Pioneer, which is Michigan and Windsor, Ontario) missing first place by only two points!

Our quartet is active in the leadership of the Chorus inline picture Gentlemen Songsters Chorus, serving in musical leadership roles in that group.

Our tenor, George, is serving an Assistant Director for the Gentlemen Songsters Chorus and is the Lead Section Leader. He works for Monarch Tool located in Southfield.

Our lead, Don, is active in the production of our annual show and is the director of our Daytime Singers. Don is retired from Chrysler Corporation where he worked in the personnel department.CTX photo #2

Our bass, Herb, is serving on the Board of Directors as the President, our in-house stage presence coordinator, and is the bass section leader. Herb is in charge of Product Support at Michigan Caterpillar.

Our baritone, Steve, is the Musical Director of the Gentlemen Songsters. He is a computer electives teacher and Network SYSOP at Meads Mill Middle School in Northville, Michigan.

Retired

In the Winter of 2000 we decided to hang up our pitchpipe. Although we still meet Monday nights at our chorus rehearsal and sing one in the corner once in a while, our performing days are over. We will always remain the best of friends. Our thanks to everyone that stuck around to hear us sing that last song of the evening.
