Our Director...

Robin Blythe

Anything worth doing is worth doing right is Robin Blythe’s credo. With a background directing women’s choruses as a certified director, she also attained the title of “Certified Director” in SPEBSQSA by taking classes at Directors College, held in St. Joseph, Missouri and over the Internet. Her course of study included theory, directing, vocal production, sound management, judging, and the history of barbershop. “There are over 650 men’s barbershop directors enrolled in the program, and only 50 are certified,” quotes Robin.

Robin’s previous twenty-five years of directing experience began with Sweet Adelines choruses, starting in Japan in 1980, then to Nashville, Portsmouth, Silver Spring and Baltimore. For the last five years she directed Hometowne USA, Rockville, Maryland’s barbershop chorus.

A music education graduate of James Madison University, she currently teaches music at St. Martin’s School in Gaithersburg from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Her schedule also includes classes in Language Arts, Study Skills, and Computer Technology.
