About Us

City of Lights Chorus was chartered in 1948 as the Kenmore Chapter of Sweet Adelines International, claiming the distinction of being the first chorus established east of the Mississippi. In 2001, the chorus changed its name to City of Lights chorus, as our membership has grown beyond the boundaries of Kenmore, New York, and welcomes singers from the entire Buffalo and western New York area. Members come from as far north as Youngstown, NY and from the village of East Aurora to the south. City of Lights chorus is the oldest continuously chartered chorus in Sweet Adelines.
City of Lights Chorus

The chorus is a performance group and enjoys entertaining at fund raisers, variety or theme shows, and for those at nursing homes, retirement facilities, hospitals and other civic groups and clubs. We also have that competetive spirit and participate in the region 16 competition of Sweet Adelines International, held in Syracuse, NY every spring. It provides us with a chance to hone our barbershop skills and to network with the many wonderful women that are members of Sweet Adelines International.

City of Lights Chorus rehearses Monday evenings at the Salem United Church of Christ in Tonawanda, NY from 7-10 pm. Membership is open to all women singers who wish to enjoy the camaraderie and harmony of ringing chords. The chorus includes members ranging in age from 25 to women in their 70's. Interested singers or groups wishing to book a performance may contact the chorus by calling 716-352-4422.
