1. NIGHT MAGIC   #15 & #19 Wallingford, PA  * 1995
(Jersey Sound, Heart of Maryland, Ramapo Valley Choruses, and CAL)
Shirley Eckert, Barbara Carfolite, Renee Walsh(H), Kathy Martin

Purple sparkly jackets over wide pants, they look great.
HOW'S EVERY LITTLE THING IN DIXIE - "Hellloooo Wake up you judges, we-- ll Hel-lo!"  There's Harmonetter, Renee Walsh, singing baritone!  Great job to start off the first session!!
FOR THE SAKE OF AULD LANG SYNE - beautiful.  Just beautiful.   Full of energy and commitment.

Ah, now I get it...The screaming and hollering that was going on RIGHT behind us happens to be the mother and two sisters of Renee!!  She stopped by to greet them when they came into the auditorium, and I finally got to meet her.

2. PARK AVENUE  #17, Bedford, OH * 1998
(City of Flags, Greater Cleveland, Maple Mountain Choruses)
Kathy Fazekas, Amy Fierstos, Marilynn Schroeter, Patty Shaffer
Black slacks and multi-colored sequined tops.
"GOODIE GOODIE" -  "All Right!"  I felt like they got off to a weak start, but they seemed to regain their confidence as the song got into the vampy parts, ending on a great note!
"CHURCHBELLS ARE RINGING FOR MARY" -  Solid sound and blend.  Not bad!

3. FOLLIES # 15, Summit, NJ * 1998
(Ramapo Valley Chorus)
Diane Sussuma, Rose Smith, Jean Schoenlank, Mary Jo Pardee
They are wearing black and gold sequined tops over basic black skirts.
Delay by the emcee after she initially says we are ready...  the quartet is obviously ready because we can see them from this side of the arena getting excited just outside the curtain.  Never did find out what caused it, but I don't think the quartet suffered for it!
MY MOTHER'S EYES   Beautiful song... and they put their hearts into it.
AFTER YOU'VE GONE - snappy, but maybe a slight synch problem a time or two. Still, it's a pretty good set.

4. UPBEAT!   #8 & #24, Bountiful, Utah * 1998 (W)
(Mountain River & Mountain Jubilee Choruses)
Heather Bruce, Beth Bruce, Tori Postma, Lynda Mills
ALL AMERICAN ROSE??   Not sure about this title, but it's a neat uptune they really enjoy.  There's Tori Postma on Bari.  They look great in the red slacks and jacket outfits.
MELANCHOLY BABY - tender and sweetly done.  Tori's baritone line on the tag was So gorgeous.  Nice job!

5. SUCCESS EXPRESS #4, Dublin, OH * 1998
(Gem City, Scioto Valley Choruses)
Stacey St. John (Judy's daughter), Michelle Holloway, Kerry Denino (H), Gretchen Holloway
Silver glitter tops over black flared skirts.
"THE MOMENT I SAW YOUR EYES"  Cute quartet of blondes. They all look quite young.  The baritone is our own Harmonetter, Kerry Denino. You rang that tag nicely girls!
"LOVE EYES MEDLEY " - one of my favorites.  Ah.. these gals chose two uptunes!  They obviously enjoy these them, and the crowd does, too.`

6. OUT OF BOUNDS #24, Portland, OR * 1998
(Blue Lake and Willemette Sound Choruses)
Lisa Hendrickson, Lisa Brown, Sandy Cahill, Kim Callaway
(Black two piece dresses with fringed bottoms)
TIRED OF ME - I like hearing a good solid bass in this song, and they have one who carries it well.  The lead does a pretty good job of keeping up with her most of the time.
JAZZ ME BLUES -  Yeah, this is the song that I remember hearing about 70 times in New Orleans, in 1995.   Good job with it!

7. A CAPELLA GOLD #21, Oceanside, CA * 1998
(San Diego Chorus)
Bette Gorton (Q- tenor of High Society-1976), Kim Hulburt (Q)(H) (Dir. of the San Diego Chorus and lead with High Society, & Savvy-1988),
Sandy Trombly (Q) (baritone with Savvy), Susan Lamb
Ok... here's one we've been hearing about with Queens Kim, Bette, and Sandy.
ARE YOU FROM DIXIE/HOW'S EVERY LITTLE THING IN DIXIE" - I love Kim's lead, and I like what they did with this.  They modified the song a bit, singing, "If you're from Alabama, Caroline or ... Nashville, Tennessee..." and of course the crowd loved it.
WHERE ARE THE OLD SONGS-  Great!

8. DOUBLE DARE  #19, Silver Spring, MD * 1998
(Elkridge, Ringing Hills, and CAL)
Debbie Sanders, Linda Beaver, Joan Starr, Tancey Bosna
(Black sequined tops and black pants)
SWEET ADELINES - Smooth and carefully done, perhaps even a bit too cautious, but I loved the mellowness.
SWEET GEORGIA BROWN - Snazzy uptune, and nice presentation, though some of the moves seemed a little over planned.

          INTERMISSION

Sightings: Don Gray and Charlie Hill (Cool! I finally got to meet the famous Don Gray!)  We visited a bit and he told us about his latest escapades in New Zealand.

10. JUST CAUSE # 9, Fort Myers, FL * 1998 (W)
(Fort Myers Fever, Toast of Tampa Choruses)
Susie Ellis, Judy Snyder, Betty Pfleiger, Joyce Tam
(White floor length skirts and white beaded tops.  Lovely)
LULU'S BACK IN TOWN - Interesting rework of the lyrics to make it appropriate for the ladies.  Good sound and a nice tag.
IF I HAD THE LAST DREAM - I like the blend, but I think their performance is a bit too tentative.  A little more confidence would help.

11. VOGUE  #23, Acworth GA * 1998
(Song of Atlanta Chorus)
Mary Selano, Barbie Wiles, Lisa L. Clay, Diane Ramsey
(Red sparkled street length dress with red stockings)
ORIGINAL DIXIELAND ONE-STEP -  They did a offered a good energetic performance, but the sound seemed a bit lacking in intensity.
MELANCHOLY BABY - I like this lead, as she manages to control the song more than some have today.  This sounds more like a swing ballad part of the time.

12. RAZZCALS #12, Roseville, CA * 1998
(Bay Area Showcase, Mission Valley, and Sacramento Valley)
Dana Gibbs, Martha Segura, Cheri Jump, Julie Starr
(They are wearing a floor length sleeveless RED shimmery gown with a slit up the side.  They really do look great in them.  - My as yet unnamed assistant, who happens to be male, really likes this outfit. BTW, he's turned into a pretty decent photographer, relieving me of the duties so I can focus on the performance. I wonder why he got 6 shots of these girls?  He only took two of all the others!)
OH YOU BEAUTIFUL DOLL - Extremely well done!  They sizzled that song right out over our heads.
MELANCHOLY BABY - Nicely done!  I enjoyed hearing them put real energy into a ballad.

9. RHYTHM STATION #3 Valparaiso, IN  * 1998 (W)
(Great Lake Sound, Midwest Crossroad, River Bend)
Cathy Pinkerton, Tori Hicks, Lynn Vaughn (baritone of Crosstown Celebration), Janice Ward
COME TAKE YOUR PLACE IN MY HEART -
JAZZ MAN - Halfway through this song they finally took control of the song and showed us what they could do with it.  A good performance but not enough to make the cut.

13. SOCIETY RHYTHM #5 Ottowa, IL * 1998
(St. Louis Harmony and Vermillion Valley Choruses)
Krista Keck Carlson, Barbara Godwin, Jody Little, Jane Baines
(They look great in the velvet floor length dresses and black and turquoise jackets.)
"M-A-DOUBLE M-Y"  Another quartet with a tentative start,  and I'm not sure they found their confidence in time to make a difference. The sound eventually came together, and they had some cute moves to enhance the theme of the song.
TIRED OF ME - This sounds much more interesting. Halfway through this song the strobe lights in the far side of the arena's corridors.  They stopped and then I heard a long low rumbling that sounded somewhat like a jet going over, but I don't think it was.  Nothing was ever said about it, so I guess it wasn't considered a significant disruption.

14. ACCLAIM! #25, Highland Village, TX  * 1991
(Rich-Tone Chorus)
Ronna Fly, Gwen Smith, Holly Beck (Everybody knows Holly -wife of Brian & daughter of Renee Craig), Naomi Ware (who just underwent unexpected surgery less than three weeks ago.  I'm glad she's recovered sufficiently!)
I'D GIVE THE WORLD TO HEAR ALEXANDER'S BAND AGAIN - snappy, upbeat and a great song for these gals.   Nice action as they each blew their own horn!
IRISH LULLABY - Mellow, and touching, showing off a good lead/bass blend.  I like them. Another good shot for them.

15. ANGEL CITY #11, Arcadia, CA  * 1998
(Agoura Hills Harmony  & Verdugo Hills Choruses)
Sally McLeish, Jennifer Motzkus, Corky Harvey, Jeannie Vercillo
They are wearing GOLD.. nearly bronze colored metallic jackets over brown skirts. Very nice look!  (the photographer gave this one a thumbs up, too.)
THE MOMENT I SAW YOUR EYES - They took command of the stage right away!  Great sound, Great energy and they got into the song.
WHO'LL BE THE NEXT ONE TO CRY OVER YOU - Heart and soul went into this one.  They keep a themselves in a tight group adding to the emotion of the song.

SESSION TWO (3pm to 6pm)

Emcee: Carole Kirkpatrick  (IBOD, Int'l Sec, Exec. Comm., Int'l Faculty, Judge Specialist, Nominating Committee Chair, Certified Exp. Judge, Master Dir., Pacific Sound Chorus, #13, Bellevue, WA)

THE RULES....
(even you fellas are intimately familiar with this spiel!)

16. CRYTAL SPIRIT #31, Portsmouth, Hants, England * 1998
(Purbrook Harmony Chorus)
Rebecca Thorpe, Bridget Pengley, Lin Carr, Sally Tomkins
(Blue velvet dresses topped with a lovely lacy empire top.)
"IT'S OPENING NIGHT ON BROADWAY" - I'm not making a guess at the ages of the lead and bass, but they seem to have rather youngish voices, with a bright and youthful sound.
WILL IT BE ME THIS TIME - they have a good visual performance and seemed very at ease.  I'm not sure their voices reflected that confidence but I thinK they gave it a great effort.

17. 4'S COMPANY #7, Kansas City, MO * 1998
(Kansas City Chorus)
Kimi Ruder, Liz Robertson, (Q) (lead- Hallmarks -1979), Diana Duff, Pat Duncan
(Black slacks with a silver and black satin top.)
I USED TO CALL HIM BABY - the same arrangement Showtime did, and pretty similar in interpretation, too.
MY NEW PANTYHOSE (*My Wild Irish Rose Parody) ... The lyrics were about loaning a friend a new pair of pantyhose, and the tenor actually pulled out a pair, and started putting them on over her slacks.... and even up and over her arms!  She had her arms stuck inside the pantyhose even as they took their bows to a scattered standing ovation.

18. FROM THE EDGE #1, Fairfield, CN * 1998
(Yankeemaid Chorus)
Lynne Morgan, Susan Broudy, Penny Schroeder, Janet Dalgar
(Black floor length gown with 2 diagonal lines of rhinestones)
DR. JAZZ MEDLEY - they had the crowd's support on this one.  Nice and jazzy and they poured a lot of energy into it.
I WISH I HAD MY OLD PAL BACK AGAIN -  Good sound...good energy.  Something wasn't quite convincing about their performance, but I did like them.

19. RENDEZVOUS #10, Houston, TX * 1998 (W)
(Houston Horizon & Texas Star Choruses)
Nanci Grosnick, Vickie Dennis, Dianne Dobb, Carin Williamson
(black pant suit with a silver glittery lapel on one side.)
"It's a Sin To Tell a Lie" - Great sound and Vickie does have a firm grip on this song. (Overheard from the lady behind me... "That was incredible.. she makes her own overtones!")
WHO'LL BE THE NEXT ONE TO CRY OVER YOU - I don't think I've heard many quartets so far today do a better job on the soft dynamics.

20. RHYTHMIX #25, Oklahoma City, OK  * 1998
(Rich-Tone & Sooner Sensation Choruses)
Carol Ater, Pam Lauffer, Sally Beck (Q) (baritone of Ginger 'N Jazz -1987), Janice Purpura
(Back sparkly skirts with teal, fuschia and silver iridescent glitz over the the mesh shoulders and neckline.)
LOVE EYES MEDLEY - These ladies know what they are here for, and they do it well.
LAST NIGHT WAS THE END OF THE WORLD - Gee, they seem to know how to manage a ballad, too!  This one was delivered tenderly, savoring the emotion that builds at the end.

21. INNOVATION #2, London Ont., Canada * 1998
(East Pointe & London Choruses)
Karen Ronanson, Julia Beadle, Deborah Martin, Patti Britz
(Silver strapless tops which come to a point over a flared black skirt.)
I'M AFRAID THE MASQUERADE IS OVER - Wonderful performance!  At times they sounded like one voice, so I guess that's a pretty good blend.  Intensity and energy didn't hurt their performance either.
SWANEE - A la Bluegrass... I love this song, and they did a fantastic job with it.  Good stuff!

22. NATURALLY #11, Culver City, CA * 1998 (W)
(Harmony Showcase & Santa Monica Choruses)
Christin Scott, Laura Pallas, Lisa Pallas Kneebone, Patricia Pallas Baker
(PURPLE lame' tops over a mauve-ish purple skirt.)
MAMA'S GONNA SLOW YOU DOWN  - Good sound and great pace for this song.  I like these songs together.
OH HOW I MISS YOU TONIGHT -   Sorry,... missed out on this one due to technical difficulties.

Sightings:  Showtime just entered and took seats at the end of the 6th row.

23. BRILLANTE #8, Colorado Springs, CO * 1998
(Skyline & Velvet Hills Choruses)
Vickie Maybury, Suzi Johnson, Barb Jamison, Cheryl Suhr
(Black and white dresses with lots of glitzy fringe.)
SING ME THAT SONG ONCE AGAIN - The lead sat on a stool.  Very nice performance!  I think their blend is very clean and mellow.
CRY BABY - They played this up nicely with a childlike attitude... for a bit., and then they took a turn and used the adult approach to the gentleman in question. Magnificent bass slide just before the tag

          INTERMISSION

24. RUMORS #25, Dallas, TX  * 1994
(Rich-Tone & Top of the Rock Choruses)
Charla Clare, Judy Baxter, Dale Syverson (baritone Tiffanies -1973), Peggy Barnes (replacement bass for Ginger 'N Jazz - 1987)
(Purple flowing, floor length skirts topped with a silver and multicolored long sleeved tunic that ends in a center point.
THE MOMENT I SAW YOUR EYES - Now this is pretty good stuff!  Rumors is no rumor anymore!  Nashville knows they are here!
MY BUDDY  - I love their sound but I heard a bit of oversinging a time or two.  It probably isn't to serious at this point.  I'm pretty sure they earned their slot in the top ten about three seconds after they walked out on stage.

25. SWINGLISH MIX #2 & 32  Huddinge, Sweden * 1997
(Pride of Kentucky & Ronninge Show Choruses)
Eleanor Hawkins, Suzanne Harrington (lead-Growing Girls -1989), Patty Hawley, Naima Meyer (bass Growing Girls -1989)
The middle section of the floor starts an enthusiastic chant for these ladies. BTW, all four of the original Growing Girls are competing in this contest!
(Hot Pink glittery dresses look great on them)
I'M AFRAID THE MASQUERADE IS OVER - Wonderful arrangement of this song, and they milk the chords at will. Whatta bass!  Whatta lead, too!
LAST NIGHT ON THE BACK PORCH - They are fun to watch and really do a great job of conveying the message.

Quote from the peanut gallery.... "I paid good money to sit here and take these pictures."

26. ALLIANCE #3, Wheaton, IL * 1998
(Choral-Aires, Melodeers & CAL)
Shelley Sweet Rubenic (tenor of Ambiance -1986), Carol Ster, Karen  Jordahl, Pat Rotunno (bass of Jubilation -1985)
(Black Floor length sparkle gowns)
ALL BY MYSELF - These ladies are so mellow on this song it flows like molasses.  Fantastic blend!!
WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE OLD SONGS - "Yessir that's my baby" reminded me of a carousel in sound.   Great package.. Definitely top ten... possibly our winner? (personal opinion only... and don't  quote me!)

27. SEATTLE STYLE #13, Kent, WA * 1998
(Pacific Sound Chorus)
Teresa A. McCafferty, Julie Hagstrom, Anna Chamberlain, Sally Denkelberg
(Purple glitzy long dresses topped with silver seqins swirling all over the bodice.)
JAZZ BABY - Great sound. They locked the tag and held it solid.
TIRED OF ME - Clean and sharp delivery.  Good job on both songs.

(Ronninge Show Chorus)
Malin Palmqvist (tenor Growing Girls -1989), Karin Ljung, Anna Ohman (baritone Growing Girls -1989), Maja Marklund
(Interesting outfits.  They are wearing mid length velvet dresses with bright draping jackets over them. The Bari and Tenor are yellow, and the Lead and Bass are red.)
DR. JAZZ MEDLEY - The Swedes sure know how to present a song!  They've found a fresh new approach to a song we've already heard numerous times today.  (And sometimes I think they sing "American English" better than we do!)
I'M AFRAID THE MASQUERADE IS OVER - beautifully done.  Little planned movement, and they followed the plan artfully.

29. DAYBREAK  #16, East Augora, NY * 1998
(Buffalo Gateway Chorus)
Molly Rowland, Kristin Stevens, Pam Calveric, Cindy Rivera
(black "lame" short dresses.  Not sure if it really is lame, but it sure shimmers)
ALL THE WORLD AND ITS GOLD - I love the song and this lead handles it very well.
DR. JAZZ MEDLEY - Well, this song has certainly has goten the play today.  They sing it like they mean it, and they've got all the moves to be convincing. A little vocal quiver from the lead there, but still a very nice package.

30. SOCIETY SWING #14, Dallas, NC * 1998
(Golden Triad & Queen Charlotte Choruses)
Jean Danaher, Beverly Dale, Julia Twitty, Loretta Brafford
(Gold long dresses... more like mustard gold, with glitter all over.  I like these outfits.)
THE MOMENT I SAW YOUR EYES - good song, and great animation, but perhaps a bit of oversinging a time or two.
TIRED OF ME - a little hesitancy in the voices a couple of times, and I think it is probably nerves.

(DMA Reg. #24, Int. Nominating Comm. West Hills
Chorus, #24, Hillsboro, OR

Emcee: Betty Clipman

(Crosstown Harmony Chorus)
Cricky Dietrich, Sally Fahey, Ellie Pipkom, Cathie Zimmerman
(Black full skirts with turqouise glitter tops)
OH SUZANNA - Cute piano playing by "Suzanna".  I enjoyed their set full of energy and excitement.
I MISS MOTHER MOST OF ALL - Excellent blend and they all seem to be singing from the heart, this sentimental message. Good job!

32. SYMMETRY #10, Richmond, TX * 1998
(Houston Horizon Chorus)
Janet Rensi, Janie Macchairoli (Vice President of Sweet Adelines), Kellie White, Karen Johnson, Royal Blue sequined dresses.)
THE MOMENT I SAW YOUR EYES -  I'Ve always like this song, and they really sizzle on it!!
OH HOW I MISS YOU TONIGHT -  Gorgeous tenderness and feeling on this... and definitely the softest, smoothest softs I have heard all day!

(I won't even feign impartiality on this quartet. Janie, the lead, is our current Vice President and was an interim director for my chorus a couple of years ago.  The tenor, Janet, is the region 10 DMA, and wife of the fellow taking photos for me right now!)

33. CHRYSTAL CLEAR #9, Tampa, FL  * 1998
(Toast of Tampa Chorus)
Melissa Carmack, Chris Reynolds, Susie Bonds (Dir. Toast of Tampa Chorus), Tabby Miller
(Tuxedos with satin Lapels)
LAND OF JAZZ -  Sounding a little like my personal favorites, High Society, they put a nice polish on this and nailed the tag!  Needed a little more oomph at the end, but it was a good one.
OH HOW I MISS YOU TONIGHT - Where have I heard this song before....?  They did it quite well, but I didn't see the faces matching the song as I hoped.

34. CRESCENDO!  #4, West Chester, OH  * 1996
(Capitol City & Seven Hills Choruses)
Karen Tate, Molly Huffman, Holly Reiman Colon, Jane Ketover
(Black full skirts with Teal sequined tops.
CRY BABY  - These gals came out and showed us what the song is all about.  The guy is a whiner and she's not going to put up with it any more!  Cute schtick.  It ends with "I'll take the dog, he's mine, and bye bye!"
ALL THE WORLD AND ITS GOLD -  Not quite as gripping a ballad as they need.  It sounds good, but just doesn't have the tension it needs.  Good solid ending on it though.

35. BLUE RAZZBERRY RHYTHM  #12, Foster City CA * 1991
(Mission Valley Chorus & CAL)
Mary Carash, Joyce Wheeler, Trish Sliter, Zip Fossum
(Purple three-piece pant suits.)
YOU'RE IN WRONG WITH THE RIGHT BABY - Good snazzy song.  I like that!
OLD FASHIONED LADY - Haven't heard this particular mother song before.  They do it very well.  Exceptional blend and they sound so comfortable with each other.

36. SHIMMER #11, Ventura, CA * 1998 (W)
(Channelaire & Harmony Showcase Choruses)
Bitsy Gordy-Kirkpatrick (H), Missy Pearce , Judy Ashmore, Sandra L. Chance
(off white textured dresses with a neat scalloped hem that has fringe at the bottom)
ANGRY/BILL BAILEY MEDLEY - weak start but they did do a pretty good recovery on it.  Nice medley I hadn't heard before. (but will be hearing again.. and again....)
HERE I AM, BROKEN HEARTED - oops.  I missed another one.  Sorry.

37. SIGNATURE SOUND #19, Glen Burnie, MD  *1994
(Pride of Baltimore Chorus)
Christine Cook, Leslie Taylor, Janet Ashford, Lloyd-Ellen Thomas (H)
(didn't get the costume info from this, but I think I can get it later from the photos.
CRY BABY - This is becoming a popular song this week! Good interp on this one.
OVER THE RAINGBOW - I love this.  Soft sentiment on the intro and a smooth mellow sound throughout!  Nice Job!

38. BACKBEAT #10, Houston, TX *1998 (W)
(Houston Horizon Chorus)
April Kaufman, Vicki Wyont, Marykaye Morgan Shirlee Avis
Black Tuxedos with white trim on the jackets.  Classy looking!
I'M DOING WHAT I'M DOING FOR LOVE - They sing this right from their hearts, and do a great job with it.  Nice ballad!
"M-A-DOUBLE M-Y" - Good delivery, good blend!

           INTERMISSION

39. GRAND PRIX  #2 & #17, Westland MI  * 1998 (W)
(East Pointe, Spirit of Detroit Choruses and CAL)
(Red glittery two piece suits with street length skirts.)
Susan Smith, Diane Catellane (lead of Top Priority -1985 2nd place), Cathie McClary, Linda Lupo
JUST A COTTAGE SMALL - I never can recognize this song
from the intro.  It's always a surprise. I like their sound, but they lack a bit in involvement at times.
SWANEE - another very popular song this week!  (I know a couple of choruses are doing it, too!)
Again, their sound is pretty good, but I like a little more soul in this song... especially the wonderful intro.

40. NATURAL HIGH #10, San Antonio, TX  *1998 (W)
(Alamo Metro Chorus)
Dark green and white tapestry-like tops with a short short flared skirt.
Jody Crum, Sasha Perez, Sonya Perez , Ronda Perez
[These were the most recent Wild Card additions to the contest, having only found out they were competing about a month ago!  I'm pretty sure their feet haven't touched the ground since then!  [These are hometown Region 10 girls: identical twins Sasha and Sonya, and their mom, Ronda.  All three joined Alamo Metro when the girls were 14 years old.]
OVER THE RAINBOW - A little hesitation in the voices as they started, it didn't take them long to get their feet under them.
JAZZ BABY - wonderful energy in this one, and they looked like they were having a wonderful time!  I loved it! Good job, girls.

41. CONTEMPO #21, Tucson, AZ  * 1997 (W)
(Tucson Goodtime Chorus)
Margaret Rochon, Dayle Ann Cook, Debbie Lewis (H), Karen Meade
(Silver "striped" metallic top over a black skirt - lovely!)
ANGRY/BILL BAILEY MEDLEY  - Great job on a song I've nearly learned by now!  Energetic delivery!
CRYING MYSELF TO SLEEP - I'm really starting to like this song and their presentation of it has made it even better. Beautiful!

42. FULL CIRCLE #16, Galway, NY * 1998 (W)
(Capitaland, River Valley Choruses and CAL)
Nancy Faddegon, Suann McKinley, Doris Wieland, Pam Hyde
(Long red dresses)
"How's Every Little Thing in Dixie" -  Lots of variety in this one.  Nice!
"When I leave the World Behind" - Here's the song that produced the tag!  They have a great deal of good portions but a few areas that sound a little weak or out of control.

43. BLAZE!  #7 & #20, St. Joseph, MO  * 1998
(Iowa City, Lincolnaire & St. Joseph Choruses)
Dee Ann Lile, Sally Sitzman, Karen Koch (Past President of Sweet Adelines), Bev Hamilton (bass of Starshine, who placed 2nd in 1986)
(Matching Multi-colored glitter vests or jackets over black dresses or slacks.)
LOVE EYES MEDLEY- Good song good notes but lacking a bit of the energy needed to carry it to the crowd.
I'M AFRAID THE MASQUERADE IS OVER - Smoother and still tecnically pretty accurate, but I still don't feel like they are sharing it with us.

44. CHORD COMPANY #6, Forest Lake, MN  * 1998
(City of Lakes Chorus)
Elaine Ramberg, Heidi Dick, Linda Wetterlin, Jan Rick
(Black velvet dresses with puffed purple sleeves with black polka dots)
ANGRY/BILL BAILEY MEDLEY - Lighter sound but they are singing clean and bright.
WHO'LL TAKE MY PLACE WHEN I'M GONE - Consistent and accurate, but there's no spark.

45. BRAVA!  #26, Surrey, BC, Canada  * 1998
(Westcoast Harmony Chorus)
Corinna Garriock (H), Lynn Gerard, Elaine Cotton, Shannon Harris (H?)
(Black skirt under a black top with gold flecks and a gold glitter trim at the bottom)
NOBODY KNOWS WHAT A RED HEAD MAMA CAN DO - This is a good sound but until the last few chords I didn't feel enough energy.  They did quite well on the tag!
KISS ME ONE MORE TIME - Wow.. this is the first time for this song all day!  Ok.. I believe them now.  They do this ballad very well, touching both the tenderness and the desperation at the end.

10:10pm... that's it.  Now we get to wait for the results
and see who's going on to Friday's Finals

10:40 - Singing order in the finals:
