Rich began his broadcast career in 1965-1967 when he hosted a college radio program called the "APPLAUSE" program at Heidelberg College in Ohio.  This weekly show featured Top-40 music and discussion about artists and events in the musical world.  From 1966-1967, he worked for WTTF, 1510AM in Tiffin, Ohio, where he hosted a show called "Swap & Shop", a two hour show which brought together buyers and sellers who had things to swap or trade with the buyers who were looking for the merchandise offered.  He even read the local "Obituaries" for ten minutes at the end of each show.

In 1997, Rich was asked to host radio program on a public broadcasting station in Hunterdon County.  He presented "The APPLAUSE Show", reviving the name of his original college radio show, to the owner of the local station as a weekly two-hour show.

The first show aired on Tuesday night,
April 8, 1997 from 8:00-10:00.  After four months, it was moved to Wednesday from 10:00-Midnight, and in the fall of 1998, the show was given a "premier" three hour slot on Thursday.

In
January of 2002, the show moved to it's present home at WVRM 1620  AM from Upper Montclair, NJ.

Rich, along with Phil DeBar, has been honored to be broadcaster for SPEBSQSA for their "Webcasts" of their annual Convention and Contest.  They hosted the webcasts from Kansas City, Missouri (2000), Nashville, Tennessee (2001) Portland, Oregon(2002) and Montreal, Canada 2003.
