INdy Was INcredible!

Fellow AHSOWers,

First, may I apologize for the lateness of this report. I have had an incredibly busy schedule since coming back from Indianapolis. I work two full-time jobs in addition to all of the volunteer work I do so my plate is quite full.

I have to say a great big THANK YOU for an INcredible convention in INdy. Before we give you the Indy membership totals, I want to bring you up to speed on some board news. The first is the result of the 2006-07 AHSOW nominations. As you all know, young Patrick McAlexander was nominated and elected to the position of VP Public Relations and Promotion replacing longtime VP, Earle Holt. Speaking of Earle, please join me in saying a great, big thanks to him for his years of fantastic service to AHSOW. Earle’s wife has been ailing and he felt it necessary to step down to attend her needs. Earle, thank you and please give our best to your wife from all of us. I heard from three AHSOW members who were concerned about Patrick being such a young board member. It was then that I decided to seek legal advice from our attorney, Ted Black. It was Ted’s opinion that it might be best that Patrick not serve at this time because as a board member, he does have a budget and would have to disperse funds from his position. Being under the age of 18, it would be in the best interest of AHSOW to ask Patrick to step down. I did just that. I asked for Patrick’s resignation which I got and asked him to PLEASE consider this position when he becomes 18 years old. After receiving Patrick’s resignation, I appointed John Fabian of Fulton, NY to accept the position of VP PR & Promotion. John accepted.

Now, onto the membership stats. The following gentlemen are the 21 new members to AHSOW as of the Indianapolis convention:

The Indianapolis convention did not produce as many new members as we usually qualify but this convention produced many more FOUR PART singers than in the past. This means we have lots more opportunities to sing with more men during the coming year(s).

The minutes of the Board of Directors meeting and of the General Membership meeting can be found here.

I want to send special thanks to Glenn Schilberg, Toban Dvoretzky, Ken Wheeler, John Fisher and everyone who helped out man the AHSOW room in Indianapolis. Also, thank you to everyone who stopped by to either qualify, reinstate their membership, sing an old song or just to say hello. One of my highlights was seeing and hearing young Patrick McAlexander and 1948 chanp Tom Palamone, Sr. (Pittsburghers) singing for about an hour straight. Woodshedding bridges the ages!

Looking forward to seeing you all in Albuquerque, NM in January. Be sure to make the AHSOW room part of your week. We’d LOVE to see you and bust some old ones!
