Tony Bove Lead | Jim Wells Tenor | Lew Shepherdson Baritone | Bill Stephens Bass |
Tony Bove, Lead
Tony's first experience at barbershopping was in 1983 (when he was a mere 15 years old), when he played Ewart Dunlop in Hillcrest High School's production of Meredith Wilson's The Music Man, but he didn't pursue it seriously until he found The Northern Stars. One Chrstmas, he was volunteering for "Dinners Unlimited", which is a volunteer program which feeds homeless and low-income people on Christmas and other holidays. There was a keyboard setup, and he volunteered to sing a couple of Christmas Carols for the diners. One of the other volunteers approached him, and asked him if he liked barbershop. The rest is history. New member night was January 22nd, 1996, and Tony was hooked, completely, after only one rehearsal.
That other volunteer was Barrie Robertson, the original bass of the quartet. Not long after the formation of the quartet, Lew was talking to some friends who asked where Tony had come from. He casually replied...
Our bass found him in a homeless shelter!
