Willamette Sound Chorus HistoryIn January 1996, a group of approximately 15 singers from Portland and Salem merged to become Willamette Sound. We are continually adding new members. Our singers from all walks of life. However, there is no limit to membership; our goal is to be over 100 strong! Willamette Sound first competed in Region 24 Competition on April 18-19, 1997 at Portland's Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. As 1997 Region #24 Competition Champions, we traveled to Nashville to represent the Region at the International Competition in 1998. Willamette Sound competed in the 2000 Region 24 Competition in May. The chorus again won the coveted Gold Medals and will represent the Region in Portland in October, 2001. In addition, we will compete in the Harmony Classic at the International Education Symposium in San Antonio scheduled for July 2001. |
