The idea of The Music Group originated
with Karen. Patty had encouraged her to become a songwriter. They
started on their first effort New Year's Eve 1980. Sweet Adelines will know Karen
through her extensive coaching and teaching, both as a musician and a
motivator. Because of her academic background, she also saw The Music Group
in an expanded light to include educational experiences for Sweet Adelines
everywhere - hence The Gathering. Her degree in Voice and expertise in
vocal production for barbershop singers makes her a special asset to the
faculty. A special feature of The Gathering, is the opportunity for a
private thirty minute consultation with Karen. As all participants know, a
personal consultation with her can be a life changing experience.

Patty represents creativity
at its best. As a working writer and published poet, lyricist for The
Music Group is but the tip of the iceberg. Another facet of her personal
creativity is demonstrated in her skill at drawing, oil painting, water
colors and mixed media. She brings experience as a teacher of talented and
gifted children into the Sweet Adeline arena. Her ability to see things
from a different angle and a different light make her classes at The
Gathering one of the most popular choices for personal growth. You will
enjoy discovering her unique approach to the humor of life.
