Public Relations Officer of The Year (PROTY)

It doesn't matter what your official chapter title may be. Or you may not even have a designated office. A title doesn't matter, the activity does. If you are actively promoting your chapter, do yourself a favor by preparing and submitting an entry in PROBE's PROTY. PROBE membership is not required for review, critique, or even for awards, although it is encouraged because of all the benefits you can receive.

Bulletin editors can readily submit samples of their work that can be quantified, graded, and judged according to specific criteria. PR men must not only originate a submission, but provide suppporting documentation with comments and/or explanation. As a rule men doing PR are not shrinking violets, and will have files and records of all recent events, so compiling the year's activities is at least an excellent review exercise. PR ideas and projects reported through PROTY entry will provide input to a central entity, and the evaluation and comments by experts will undoubtedly give better insight and knowledge to all participants.

There are two options to the Public Relations Officer of The Year promotion.

  1. An entry may be submitted for evaluation and comment only. It will not be entered in the PROTY contest.
  2. The PROTY award is for the man who submits the most inventive and successful promotion for his chapter during the calendar year.

COVER SHEET

  1. Biographical information of nominee
  2. Chronological outline of the activities for the calendar year.

SUPPORTING INFORMATION

  1. Make a separate page for each activity shown on the Cover Sheet, with brief commentary about the planning, execution, documentation and follow- up.
  2. Include copies of pertinent documents (news releases, newspaper clippings, correspondence, printed programs, thank-you letters. etc.)

Remember that the PR effect does not necessarily depend upon successful completion of any project, rather it is judged on the amount of actual PR (Spreading the Gospel) that was accomplished.
